Cassie Louise Thomas has been chosen as the recipient of the 2026 scholarship presented by the women of the Delta Zeta chapter of the national edu cation sorority Phi Delta Kappa.
Thomas is a junior in the education program at South Georgia State College. She is majoring in ele mentary-special education.
The grant is presented annually by the sorority to an area student enrolled in an educational curriculum ahead of entering the field as a teacher.
Thomas said she plans to do her student teaching during the spring semester of 2027. She has received several awards at SGSC, and participated in workshops and seminars in preparation to become a teacher.
