BLACKSHEAR — It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Joseph Eugene “Unk” Murphy, 52 of Blackshear, who passed away peacefully Friday, July 24, 2026 at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following a brief illness, surrounded by the love of his family.

Murphy
Murphy was born October 25, 1973, in St. Marys to the late Roberta Coleman.
Known affectionately as “Unk,” Murphy had a gift for making people laugh and had generous spirit. He cheri shed spending time with his family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Murphy was a skilled carpenter who took pride in his work and loved creating and repairing things with his hands. He also enjoyed tinkering with anything with a motor, always eager to figure out how it worked and bring it back to life.
Whether he was building something, fixing an engine, or helping someone in need, Murphy gave his time and talents generously.
More than anything, he loved his family. Murphy was an amazing brother, a devoted uncle and a loyal friend whose kindness, humor and love left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His laughter was contagious, and his caring heart made people feel loved.
Murphy leaves to cherish his memory one brother, Billy Murphy Jr.; two sisters, Brenda Vickery Sirmans (Kenneth Sirmans) and Belinda Kay Guy, all of Blackshear; his aunt, Janet Coleman; his lifelong childhood friend, David Meadows of Blackshear; several dearly loved nieces and nephews; his special niece and nephew, Shayla and Stuart Pendergrass, and their children (Munk, Kylah, Boogie, Bubby, Sissy, Connor and Calissa) of Hoboken; along with many extended family members and dear friends he admired and whose lives were forever touched by his love and friendship.
Although Murphy’s time on earth was far too short, the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the countless lives he touched will never be forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Murphy’s favorite saying was…”You ain’t mad at me are you?”
A Celebration of Life service will be announced by the family at a later date.
