Heyward “Boo” Clarke is remembered this week for his service to his community — especially children with special needs.
Clarke, 88, passed away Friday, July 24.
Clarke had a lifelong love of animals, especially horses. His love of horses and his desire to serve others led him to found and direct Saddleup Therapeutic Horse Riding Center in Pierce County. The center served children with special needs.
Clarke was a certified public accountant in Waycross for many years. He was also a graduate of University of Georgia, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Waycross.
A memorial service was held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, August 2, from the First Presbyterian Church of Waycross.
