Just before the end of summer vacation the Pierce County Rec. Department managed to squeeze in one last week of fun with a basketball camp hosted at the Pierce County Gym in Blackshear.

Assisted by a crew of young volunteers, Rec. Director Maureen Brown and her staff supervised an enthusiastic crowd of youngsters for four days of drills, dribbling, lay ups and shooting hoops.

The basketball camp was free for all who registered and Brown was very pleased with the turn out.

”If I could figure out how to make it happen, I’d like to see something like this a couple days each week,” said Brown. “It’s good for kids to have somewhere to go and something to do.”
