WAYCROSS — Mr. Johnny “Steve” Capps, 68, passed away Tuesday morning, July 21, 2026, at his residence in Waycross.
He was born December 14, 1957 in Waycross to the late Johnny and Mary Mancil Capps. Capps graduated from Ware County High School in 1975. After graduation, he was employed by Scapa Dryers for 20 years, but he most recently was employed by SMI as a fabricator.
His hobbies included building motors for racecars and go-carts. Capps gave his life over to the Lord several years ago and he enjoyed listening to the services on his phone.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Tereasa Chancey Capps of Waycross; his son, Chase Capps (Leslie) of Hilliard, Fla.; her children, Josh Chancey and Michelle Nettles (Steven); grandchildren, Dylan, Seth, Brantley, Titus, Gavin, Tristen, and Dalton; two great grandchildren, Leo and a baby girl due in November.
A funeral service was held July 23 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
