Dowling
WAYNESVILLE — Mary Earline Dowling, 80 of Waynesville, went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, July 19, 2026 surrounded by her many loved ones.
Mrs. Dowling was known for many things, but mostly for her fierce love for her family. She loved hard and true. Her family was her heart andsoul, loving each one in her own way, making every one of us feel like she loved us most.
Plain and simple, we ALL were her favorites. Called by many names — “Grannie”, “Grannie Lene”, “Mema” and “Grandma” — she was simply the very best when it came to grandparenting! She once said when asked what dreams did she have, all she ever wanted was to be a wife, mother andgrandmother. And she was!
Mrs. Dowling was a God fearing and God loving faithful member of Monticello Ridge The Church of God in Waynesville. for 29 years. Pouring all she had into the Church, from sewing and crafting for missions to cooking and serving dinners for fund raisers, and never failing to help with any extra needs, especially letting all the grands sit on her pew with her lap full, too. This will be greatly missed every Sunday.
But for all she did in life, I would say the greatest thing she taught was, “Love the Lord, Go to Church, Forgive Quickly, and Keep Family Strong.” Earline (Mama) will be missed beyond measure.
Mrs. Dowling was preceded in death by her father, William Earl Morgan, and mother, Elsie Mae Johnson Morgan; son, James C. Davis III; granddaughter, Brandi Earline Flewellyn; and four brothers, James Morgan, Leon Morgan, Douglas Morgan and Robert Morgan.
She is survived by five children, Sonia Willis, Scot Davis (Ashlee), Charline Barker, Regina Miller (Richard) and David Dowling (April); 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, three bonus grandchildren, four bonus great children; a sister, Marie Holder; two sistersin- law, Jean Morgan and Claudine Morgan; a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly.
A funeral service was held Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Monticello Ridge The Church of God in Waynesville with Bro. Chris Clarkston officiating.
Burial followed in Morgan Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richard Miller, Walton Miller, Virgil Dowling, Landon Derby, Ryan Blount and Martin England.
Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
