The 22nd annual Walter A. Sr. and Earnestine Lewis Myles Honor Day will be held at noon Saturday, August 1 at the City of Pearson Sports Complex and Civic Center, 786 Austin Avenue East, Pearson.
A scholarship fund in memory of Walter and Earnestine Myles has been established. During the annual program, a number of scholarships are awarded to deserving students to help them further their education. Recipients of the scholarship and honorees of the souvenir booklet will be recognized during the honor day event.
The Myles’ were educators in Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Coffee, Long, Pierce, Ware and Wayne Counties. Each year the Myles Honor Day event rotates to a community where the Myles’ taught. Former employers, coworkers, students, family members and friends of the Myles are welcome to attend. The event also honors secretaries, lunchroom attendants, bus drivers, counselors, principals, coaches and others who give of their service to education.
A souvenir booklet is being prepared for the honor day program.
Donations are accepted and checks should be made payable to the W.A. and Earnestine Myles Scholarship Fund.
