NAHUNTA — A Nahunta man and a Jesup woman were arrested on Possession of Methamphetamine charges by the Nahunta Police Department’s CSIU unit following a traffic and equipment violation stop.
Crime Suppression and Intelligence Unit (CSIU) Captain Brandon Todd conducted the Monday, July 6, 2026 traffic stop at approximately 3:30 p.m., on a white Chevrolet pickup truck driven by David Perry Johns, 43, of Nahunta. Johns had a frontseat passenger, Mari Clay Clark, 38, of Jesup. A backseat passenger was interviewed and released without charges.
During the traffic stop and field interview, Capt. Todd developed probable cause indicating the investigation involved more than a routine traffic violation.
A lawful search of the vehicle and its occupants resulted in the discovery of a small amount of suspected marijuana, along with quantities of suspected crystal methamphetamine and suspected fentanyl.
Both Johns and Clark were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Brantley County Detention Center.
