NAHUNTA — The necessary paperwork and signatures to recall three Brantley County Commissioners has been filed.
This has triggered the next stage of the official recall process.
The process began when Brantley resident Shannon Denbow requested recall applications Wednesday, June 24, 2026 for Commissioners Skipper Harris, Hal Herndon and Randy Davidson.
Commissioners Brian Hendrix and Andy Riggins were not part of the recall.
She had 15 days to obtain 100 signatures as sponsors for the recall per commissioner, with 300 total needed for all three.
According to Denbow, 353 signatures were collected. She turned in the recall applications Wednesday, July 8 to the Board of Elections and Registrars office.
“The applications are currently being reviewed by the Board of Elections to validate the reason for wanting the recall and the signatures of the sponsors,” the board shared in a post to its official Facebook page.
By Georgia Law, the Board of Elections has five days, excluding Saturday, Sunday, and holidays, to make a decision on the application. The fifth day is today, Wednesday, July 15th.
Once the Board of Elections has reviewed all the information. If the board determines there is significant grounds for a recall, the matter then goes to a vote.
The effected parties will be notified, and then a post will be made to inform the public so there are no more questions or confusion For a commissioner to be recalled, 30 percent of the registered voters from those commissioner’s last election would have to vote in favor.
