Adam Ferrell has been named as the new school board attorney.
Ferrell succeeds Dan Bennett Jr. who stepped down July 1. (See rel ated story.)
Ferrell began his tenure in the role with the school board's work session last Thursday.
School superintendent Dara Bennett introduced Ferrell at Thursday's meeting.
The local attorney is a familiar face in the community. He has been a private practice attorney in Blackshear for the past 17 years.
Ferrell also serves as state court solicitor having been elected in 2014.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Mercer University and earned his juris doctor from Mercer in 2004.
Ferrell and his wife, April, have two children, Jackson and Caroline.
