Bennett steps down as school board attorney

Dan Bennett Jr. is stepping down as school board attorney.

Bennett Jr. submitted his resignation to the school board effective July 1.

“We have nothing but good things to say about the work that Mr. Bennett has done as school board attorney. He has done an amazing job for us,” said School Superintendent Dara Bennett.

Dara Bennett said Dan Bennett met with her after the June school board and said his practice, serving as state court judge and other duties require him to “step away” from his role as school board attorney.

Bennett has served as school board attorney since February of 2023.

Blackshear Attorney Adam Ferrell has been hired as the new school board attorney and attended his first meeting on the job during last week’s work session.
