The Pierce County Industrial Development and Building Authority (IDBA) will soon relocate its office to one half of a building at 333 West Carter Avenue.
IDBA Executive Director Blake James said it “just makes sense” to operate out of a newer building which the IDBA owns outright. James added there is also the opportunity to generate funds for other IDBA operations by making greater efforts to rent out the vacant half.
The subdivided building is wholly owned by the Pierce County IDBA and was built in 2017, the same year ownership of the parcel of land on which it was built was transferred from the county to the IDBA.
The building has been empty since April of this year. The former tenant and most recent occupant, a satellite location for a rural health initiative headed by Kids Alliance for Better Care and Wayne Memorial Hospital, declined to renew their lease and vacated the location.
James tentatively estimates he will be in place and working out of the West Carter Avenue location by July 19. However, the IDBA board will continue to hold their monthly meetings in the Pierce Chamber of Commerce’s conference room, located at the historic train depot in downtown Blackshear.
The IDBA board meets the first Wednesday of every month. Their next regular meeting will be 8 a.m. August 5
