Chancey
BLACKSHEAR — Mr. Robert Lavell Chancey, 68, of Blackshear, passed away peacefully at his residence Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
Born May 26, 1958, in Ware County, Chancey was the son of the late Charles Chancey and Lurlyn Rowell Chancey.
A graduate of Ware County High School, Chancey was a hardworking man whose career reflected his strong work ethic and versatility. He owned and operated Chancey Drywall and, over the years, also served as a correctional officer, firefighter, boilermaker, and manager of Pizza Inn.
Chancey was happiest when he was outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, treasure hunting, and staying busy with work. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his willingness to work hard, and his love of life's simple pleasures.
In addition to his parents, Chancey was preceded in death by his step grandson, Daniel Bennett.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 39 years, Lawanna Carole Sapp Chancey of Blackshear; his stepson, Tim Bennett of Waycross; his brother, David Chancey (Marsha) of Blackshear; his sister, Charlyne Hernandez (Oscar) of Blackshear; his grandchildren, John and Will Bennett; his special niece, Paige Chancey (Eugene); four great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
A funeral service was held Friday, July 3 in the chapel of Music Funeral Home. Burial followed at Corinth Cemetery in Bacon County.
