Robert Edward Oliver

NAHUNTA — Robert Edward Oliver, 80 of Nahunta, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at his residence after an extended illness.

Oliver was born July 8, 1945, in Mendes, Ga., to the late Theron William Oliver and Lola Dale Purcell Oliver. He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Camilla Oliver; and his sister, Judy Mobley.

Oliver proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years before transferring to the Navy, where he honorably served an additional four years. Following his military service, he began a distinguished career with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he faithfully served for more than 30 years before retiring.

In his free time, Oliver enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, playing golf, and working word search puzzles. He will be remembered for his steady presence, dependable nature, and the love and care he showed his family and friends throughout his life.

Oliver ’s life was one of service, integrity and devotion. His memory will be deeply treasured and forever held in the hearts of those who loved him.

Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn Oliver; his daughter, Susan Oliver of Callahan, Fla.; his son, Robbie Oliver of Jacksonville, Fla.; his stepson, Ryan Merritt of Brunswick; along with numerous extended family members, cherished friends, and all who were blessed to know him.

A funeral service was held Friday, July 3, 2026 at Riverside Church officiated by Rev. Randy Wainright.

Burial in Riverside Church Cemetery immediately following the service.

Pallbearers were David Thrift, Derek Johns, Justis Archbold, Shea Gilley, Kaden Gilley and Johnny Herrin.

Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
