ALMA — Lonnie Stephens, 85 of Alma, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026, at his residence after an extended illness.
Stephens was born April 16, 1941 in Brunswick to Lynch Stephens and Bertie West Stephens.
He was a retired painting contractor after many years. He also served in the National Guard.
In addition to his parents, Stephens was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara J. Stephens; son, Lemar Stephens; brothers, Lynch Stephens, Jr., Larry, Bobby, Roger, Donnie, Pete, Glynn, Harold and Bill Stephens and sisters, Dora McKenzie, Una Hewitt and Lena Stephens.
Survivors include four daughters, Cindy Woodard (Mike) of Jesup, Sharon Jacobs (Larry) of Burleson, Texas, Karen Paulson and Candace Strickland of Alma; stepchildren, Neal Wheeler (Kelly) of Finger, Tenn., Janice Amerson of Jesup, Becky Bridges of Hortense and Belinda Tanner of Jesup; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Linda Mason, Carol Smith (Greg), Marilyn Hewitt (Jimmy), Kathy Goff and Darlene Brown (Paul) of Jesup and Penny Ray of Brunswick.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
