BLACKSHEAR — Mr. James F. Leverett, Jr., 91, passed away early Monday morning, June 29, 2026 at Satilla Bluffs Senior Care Center in Pierce County.
Leverett was born April 24, 1935 in Brantley County to the late James Frederick Leverett and Maggie Westberry Leverett. He graduated from Waycross High School.
Leverett served in the United States Army following the Korean War. He was a member of Williams Chapel Baptist Church, but he recently attended Jamestown Baptist Church.
He retired from CSX Railroad as a machinist after a lifelong career of 38 years. Leverett and his brother also owned and operated Fred’s Amoco Service Station on Memorial Drive. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and taking long drives with his brother, Richard.
In addition to his parents, Leverett was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Annett Edenfield Leverett; and his siblings, Mary Alice McCray, Doris Smith, Gladys Strickland, Richard and Larry Leverett.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Rogers (Jason) and Lori Leverett both of Waycross; two sons, Jimmy Leverett (Julianna) of Waycross, and Jason Leverett (Kristie) of Panama City, Fla.; grandchildren, Lindsay Joyce, MacKenzie Woodard, Blakely Rogers, Jake Leverett, Austin Leverett, T.J. Leverett, Sydnie White, Jace Leverett, Sunnee Leverett and Kyler Leverett; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Monday, July 6, 2026 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
