Pierce County Board of Elections and Registration is not sending out letters asking residents to update their voter registrations.
County residents have reported they have been getting a mailing from Alexandria, Virginia that looks like an official election document.
The envelope is marked “Election Notice” and “Time Sensitive: Immediate Action Requested.”
They inform the recipient they may not be registered and need to update their registration.
Elections Supervisor Leah Ritch said the mailing are not from her office.
“It appears these notices are being sent to voters who have moved out of the county or out of state, as well as voters who are deceased,” she said.
The mailings come from an organization called Right To Register Inc. and is from a paid mailer, not a government mailing.
“If you got this mailing, it did not come from the Pierce County Board of Elections and you do not need to act on it,” Ritch said.
Ritch reminds anyone who wants to vote in the Nov. 3 general election they must register by Oct. 5. To register, go to call the Board of Elections at (912) 449-2028. To check registration status or find your polling place, go to mvp.sos.ga.gov.
