Pre-order a steak dinner today Pierce County Senior Center is holding a steak dinner fundraiser to support the work they do with area seniors.
Meals will be prepared by the Downtown Sandwich Shoppe of Waycross. The senior center’s goal is to sell 100 steaks.
Pre-order dates are July 8 - 10 with an 11:30 a.m. July 16 pick up. Meal options are a full dinner including steak, mashed potato, string beans and roll for $25 or just the steak for $23.

Painting for America’s 250th Patterson Art Gallery will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.
Artists will help paint two of the 1,000 squares to help create a flag to be displayed later in the year.
The event will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at Eagle Station, 3507 Williams Street Patterson.
Oil and acrylic will be $25. All supplies will be included.
Monthly art classes are held on the first Tuesday of each month.

Business Bingo set for July 16 The Pierce County Chamber of Commerce’s next Business Bingo event will take place 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16.
Bed R’ Furniture, located at 513 Tebeau Street in Waycross, will host July’s Bingo Business. Tickets can be purchased at Bed R’ Furniture or the chamber offices at 200 SW Central Ave in Blackshear.
“We can’t wait to see everyone at Bed R’ Furniture & Mattress on July 16,” says chamber director Christi Pitts. “It is going to be a lot of fun for everyone.”
Advance tickets are $30 per seat, which includes food and 10 rounds of bingo. Any seats still available the day of the event can be purchased for $35 per seat at the door.
Seating at the event is limited to 100 seats, and each person must have their own ticket. Pitts encourages those interested to purchase their tickets early to guarantee their spot.
“All proceeds from the event help fund the chamber and our youth programs,” says Pitt.
Times closes early The Blackshear Times will close at 1 p.m. Wednesdays throughout the summer. The change will be effective from now through Wednesday, August 5.
