Memorial Satilla Health recently hosted a free STOP THE BLEED training as part of National STOP THE BLEED Month, equipping community members with lifesaving skills to respond during bleeding emergencies.
The hands-on training event taught participants how to recognize lifethreatening bleeding and take immediate action before first responders arrive.
The event was part of a broader HCA Healthcare initiative, trauma centers across the country offering STOP THE BLEED classes to help improve emergency preparedness and public safety within their communities.
“Moments matter during a bleeding emergency,” said CEO Damon Barrett. “By providing this training, we are helping empower our community with the confidence and skills to potentially save a life before emergency medical care arrives.”
The class was held at the Memorial Satilla Health Hospital Annex and included practical demonstrations and hands-on instruction led by trained healthcare professionals. The hospital program is the most recent community education and preparedness through programs that support health, safety, and emergency response awareness.
Earlier this month, Memorial Satilla also announced its designation as a Level IV Trauma Center by the Georgia Department of Public Health, marking a significant advancement in emergency care for the region. Previously, our region was designated by the state as a “trauma desert” due to limited access to services, with the nearest trauma facility located approximately 80 miles away.
