The Ware County Board of Education approved a $100.12 million budget for Fiscal Year 2026-27 Tuesday, June 23 during its monthly business meeting.
Board members unanimously approved the ledger, which was filed with the Georgia Department of Revenue, to begin today (Wednesday, July 1). The budget is just shy of $8 million less than the FY 2025-26 financial sheet, records show.
The majority of the revenue ($58.6M) in the budget is from the state with another $17.9 million from local taxes. Equity on county holdings provides approximately $21.8 million in revenue.
More than half of the ledger’s expenditures ($52M) is dedicated to instruction expense. Next on the board’s financial agenda is setting the system’s millage rate.
In addition to the budget, the board also approved an altered meeting schedule for the remainder of the calendar year. The meeting time for work sessions also was changed from 6 p.m. to an hour earlier.
The revised schedule begins this month with a work session at 5 p.m. Monday, July 20, followed at 6 p.m. July 21 with the business meeting.
The rest of the schedule will be August 10-11, September 14-15, October 1920, November 9-10 and December 14-15. Each will be held at the board office, 1301 Bailey Street.
