MILLWOOD — Mr. Ferrell Elias Bennett, 88, passed away Thursday night June 25, 2026, at his residence in Millwood.
He was born February 12, 1938 in Millwood to the late Grady Gaines Bennett and Ruby Lee Arnold Bennett. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service and the Georgia Department of Corrections after 22 years of service.
Bennett was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He lived a lifetime of service to others, and he held a love of outdoors and caring for his goats and chickens. Even greater than that, he left a legacy of love and a powerful example to all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Doley Colleen Bennett; and his siblings, Hurshell G. Bennett, Hurbert L. Bennett, and Elnita Davison.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Marie Bennett and Ellen Lang Bennett Pittman (husband Cecil); grandchildren, Eric Dewayne Pittman (Brooke) and Justin Derick Pittman (Chelsea); great grandchildren, Layla Elizabeth Pittman, Aiden Dewayne Pittman, Marshall Bear Pittman, Danzlee Herrin, Jayci Wilson, Terry Luke Arnold, Jr., and McKenzie Davis; siblings, Johnny Merrell Bennett (Gail), Juanita Bell Pittman (late Wallace), Linda Faye Swain (Richard), Grady Bennett (Faith), and Betty Sue Joyce (James); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service was held June 29 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial followed in Little Utah Cemetery in Axson.
