Editor’s Note: This is the final story in a series of 13 to honor America’s 250th birthday July 4, 2026. The flags for the Field of Honor were planted in honor and remembrance June 27 for the ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday. The flags will come down Saturday, July 11 so those who bought flags can take them home.
Special to the WJH In every community across the nation, there are men and women whose lives have strengthened the fabric of American freedom.
Some wore the uniform. Some served in firehouses, patrol cars or ambulances. Others shaped young people, built families, or quietly supported neighbors in times of need. The Field of Honor exists for all of them.
