A few weeks ago, we had a river clean up on the Satilla.
The boat ramp at the Hwy. 301 bridge was actually not too bad compared to other times. But, some of the other places that were cleaned u p were bad as usual.
I have been doing this for many years and still don’t understand how someone can go to the river and leave beer cans, bottles, soda cans, baby diapers and just scattered trash behind when they leave.
I have griped about it many times and keep hoping that one day the people who are doing it will think about what they are doing and pick up behind themselves instead of all the volunteers that do it for them.
It looks like that is never going to happen.
Like I have said before, for many years I cleaned up messes like this and just didn’t say anything. Now after all of these years, I have started taking pictures of it (which I have always done) and gripe about it to anyone that will listen and post the pictures for everyone to see.
This is just so wrong. The Satilla River has been one of my most photographed subjects. It is really so very aggravating to have to pick up trash before I can even take pictures of our beautiful Little and Big Satilla Rivers.
Come on people ... it is not that hard to do.
