Juneteenth Fest goes inside

Juneteenth Fest goes inside
The storms that soaked the area Friday forced the annual Juneteenth Community Festival to be moved inside for its food service and the full program to be rescheduled for later this summer. Hosted by Love Feeds, the outing was to begin at noon, June 19 in Bailey Street Park, but the storms which dropped more than six inches of rain in about four hours forced a move to inside the C.C. McCray City Auditorium and a new start time of 4 p.m., for the food giveaway. Shawn Taylor, Love Feeds coordinator, said the senior farmer’s market will now be held at noon today (Wednesday, June 24) with the remainder of the free program to be held in either August or September. “I just want to thank the community for supporting us despite the last-minute change,” Taylor said. “I also want to thank the servers for preparing meals for the community.” Photo by ETHAN REDDISH
