Martin
HOBOKEN — Billy Ray Martin, 79 of Hoboken, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday morning, June 17, 2026 at Southeast Georgia Medical Center in Brunswick after an extended illness.
Martin was born in Ware County to the late LeRoy Martin and Macie Melton Martin. He made Hoboken his home for most of his life.
Martin worked for years as a chip and saw operator and was a true man of faith. He was a dedicated prayer warrior for all people, always leaning on his faith and lending a hand to anybody in need.
He was a man of love with a huge heart, his true favorites were his grandchildren, and he really enjoyed fishing when time would allow.
Martin attended Word of Life Church of God of Prophecy.
In addition to his parents, Martin is preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Martin and Sammy Ray Martin; and his beloved canine companion, Toby.
Martin is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Rena Martin of Hoboken; two daughters, Laura King and husband Melvin of Hoboken, and Becky Bell and husband David of Blackshear; six grandchildren, Timberly Cox (Josh), Maraya King, Marena King, Maeley King, Dave Bell (Kella) and Joe Bell; three great grandchildren, Liza Kate Bell, Cason Bell and Ruthie Jo Bell; a sister, Gladys Lee of Hoboken; two beloved felines, Pumpkin Lilly and Binx; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service was held Saturday, June 20, 2026 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in Hoboken City Cemetery.
