Sandra Janice ‘Meme’ Bryant

Bryant

WAYCROSS — Mrs. Sandra Janice Bryant, lovingly known as “Meme,” entered the presence of her Savior Sunday, June 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family and the faith that sustained her throughout her life.

She was born January 9, 1945, in Ware County to the late Ephriam T . Walker, Sr. and Cina Griff i n Walker. Mrs. Bryant graduated from Ware County High School, and was a member of Haywood Baptist Church. She retired from Scapa Dryers (Voigt) as a customer service representative.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, ET (Agatha) Walker, Vida (Edwin) Wilkinson, Louise (Tommy) Baxter, JD (Thelma Lee) Walker, Harold (Louise) Walker, Carl (Mary) Walker, Bobby Walker, Para (Richard) Moon, and Billy Walker.

Mrs. Bryant was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was marked by unwavering faith, selfless love, and sacrificial service. She built her family on a firm foundation of Christ, creating a legacy that will continue for generations. Her greatest joy was caring for those she loved, always putting the needs of others before her own.

In June 2022, she was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. From the very beginning, she declared that she would be healed — whether on this side of Heaven or the other. Through every challenge, treatment, and setback, she remained steadfast in her faith, trusting God with each step of her journey. Even in her suffering, she pointed others to Christ through her strength, grace, and unwavering hope.

Just two months before her passing, Mrs. Bryant lost her earthly sight. Yet today, she sees more clearly than ever before. The eyes that once could no longer see have now beheld the face of Jesus, and what a glorious sight that must be.

She leaves behind a family who adored her and countless lives that were touched by her kindness, wisdom, and love. Her influence cannot be measured by words alone. Mrs. Bryant was the heart of her family, a prayer warrior, a source of encouragement, and an example of what it means to live a life fully surrendered to God.

Survivors include her husband, Loren Bryant, of Waycross; daughters, Penny (Chad) Hartley of St. Simons Island and Debbie (Hank) Hobbs of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Justin (Ashley) Williams, Jake Williams, Kristin (Taylor) Coffey, Megan (Junior) Aguirre, and Christian (Alicia) Hartley; great grandchildren, Macade and Mila Williams, Tate Coffey, and Lincoln and Brooks Hartley; brother, Jackie (Donna) Walker; sister, Patsy (late Jack) Bunch; sister-in-law, Yoli Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Though her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort knowing that she is healed, whole, and home with Jesus. Her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will live on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

“She fought the good fight, she finished the race, she kept the faith.”

— 2 Timothy 4: 7

A celebration of Janice’s life will be at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday, June 17) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Satilla Hospice House, or that those wishing to honor her memory simply love others the way she did — with generosity, grace, and unwavering faith.
