José Gomez and Cora Crews were recognized during last month’s annual Ware County Future Farmers of America Awards Banquet as recipients of the 2026 Robbie Roberson “Built Ford Tough” Student Award.

The award is an annual scholarship celebrating leadership, character and dedication within agricultural education. It honors students whose achievements reflect the values long championed by Roberson, a local businessman and supporter of agricultural.

“We’re proud to support students who are preparing themselves for a solid future,” Roberson said, “José and Cora represent the very best of agricultural education.”

Each year, the scholarship is presented to one standout student. But this year’s applicant pool was so strong Roberson made a special decision — selecting two recipients with each receiving a $2,500 scholarship.

The award highlights students who demonstrate excellence through their supervised agricultural experience programs, leadership roles and commitment to the future of Georgia agriculture. Both Gomez and Crews were honor graduates in the WCHS Class of 2026.

Roberson, a lifelong supporter of 4-H and FFA, established the scholarship to encourage young people who embody hard work, resilience and integrity to continue their academic pursuits.

Gomez, has made a significant impact on Ware County FFA through both leadership and hands-on agricultural involvement. He served as a Georgia FFA State Officer and was the Ware County High School FFA President.

He also earned top honors as the state winner in the Agricultural Education Career Development event.

Gomez has built a strong supervised agricultural experience raising and exhibiting swine and sheep. He also distinguished himself as the High Individual in Area Livestock judging.

The honoree was recognized as a student who “leads from the front,” consistently investing in others and representing Ware County with excellence. Crews, has earned statewide recognition for her achievements in the cattle industry and agribusiness.

Crews serves as the Georgia Junior Cattlemen’s Association state president and holds the prestigious title of State STAR in Agribusiness, one of the highest honors awarded to an FFA member.

She also is a State Proficiency Finalist in Diversified Agriculture.

This year, Crews captured the 12thgrade Cattle Showmanship titles at both the Georgia National Fair and the State Livestock Show, further demonstrating her skill and dedication.

Roberson commended both students for their achievements and their promise as future leaders in agriculture.

He emphasized that, like the trucks built “Ford Tough,” today’s FFA and 4-H members are developing the strength, confidence, and perseverance needed to meet life’s challenges.
