City women earn medical degrees Waycross residents Sara Hitt and Rebecca Taylor graduated last month from Mercer University’s School of Medicine.

Each earned a Doctor of Medicine following studies in the program that has medical school sites in Macon, Savannah and Columbus.

Hitt and Taylor were among more than 2,200 students to receive degrees at one of four commencements held in Macon and Atlanta.

Juneteenth festival June 19 at Bailey Love Feeds, Inc. holds its annual Juneteenth Community Festival from noon to 5 p.m., Friday, June 19 in Bailey Street Park, 1304 Bailey Street.

There will be free food and beverages, games, bounce houses, farmers market for seniors, giveaways and prizes. Vendors are welcome at no fee.

Ware school board meets June 22-23 The Ware County Board of Education holds its monthly meetings Monday- Tuesday, June 22-23 at the board office, 1301 Bailey Street.

A work session will be Monday followed by the business meeting Tuesday. Both will be at 6 p.m. and open to the piblic.

The meeting agenda is posted in advance, and the minutes are posted on the system web page at www.ware.k12.ga.us under the District and e-Board links. The business meeting is live streamed and available on the website by clicking menu, and selecting board of education meeting Livestreams.

Juneteenth Jubilee Dance set June 20 The Ladies Auxiliary of American Veterans Post 621 will hold a Juneteenth Jubilee Dance, at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 20 at C.C. McCray City Auditorium, 865 Pendleton Street.

Tickets are $35 per person and available from any Amvets auxiliary member. In addition to the music and dancing there will be food and a cash bar.

First Flight Georgia has event June 20 First Flight Georgia has scheduled its 2026 event in Waycross from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 20 at the Waycross–Ware County Airport, 3098 Keen Road.

Youth ages 8-19 are eligible to participate in the statewide program that introduces them to aviation through free introductory flights and hands-on exposure to aviation careers with input from pilots and others involved in the field of flight.

This is the non-0profit group’s fifth annual edition of First Flight Waycross, which welcomes families to make a day of experiencing flight.

Satilla Bluffs sets Classic Car Show Satilla Bluffs, 101 Satilla Bluffs Drive, will be the site of a Classic Car Show beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 27.

In addition to dozens of classic vehicles, there will be summer snacks, music, and a family friendly front porch party.
