Gas leak in Industrial Park shuts down Paloma St.

NAHUNTA — Law enforcement and Nahunta Volunteer Fire Department personnel responded Friday, June 12 to the Blueberry Plant on Paloma Street in the Industrial Park after a propane tank leak was reported. Deputy Sheriff John Simpson said a pressure valve was releasing gas fumes. The Day Care Center near the Blueberry Plant voluntarily evacuated. VFD personnel sprayed the tank until another was brought in. Paloma Street was closed around to Hwy. 82 until approximately 6 p.m. Responding were 4-5 personnel from the VFD, 3-4 Brantley County deputies, a Nahunta Police Dept. officer and an assistant Glynn County fire chief who was passing through town.
