WAYNESVILLE — Matthew Alexander “Matt” Clark, 48 of Waynesville, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
Clark was born July 11, 1977 in Brunswick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marcia Clark of Waynesville; a sister, Terri Singletary o f Brunswick; and a brother, Frank “Bubba” Clark, Jr., also of Waynesville.
Clark was a roller man for Mikeo Paving and a construction worker. He loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, cooking and gardening.
Clark also enjoyed training and riding horses with his dad when he was a teenager. More than anything else, he will be remembered for his big heart and playful teasing.
Clark is survived by his sisters, Vikki (Chuck) Stokes, Kristy Clark, Patricia (Michael) Nissen, Donna (Billy) Worthington all of Waynesville, and Jeannie Marie (Rod) Mims of Brunswick; several nieces and nephews, Christopher Stokes, Rebecca Johns, Amber Hedegard, Kayla Clark, Travis Nissen, Darrell Nissen, Heather Thomas, Dakota Owens, Nichole Worthington, Kiley Larkin, Latrisha McAtee, Morgan Salazar, Angelina Hatchett, Christina Clark, Alex

Clark and Sherriann Clark; a special friend like a brother, Wayne (Alicia) Jacobs of Waynesville; a loving partner, Ramona Carter of Waynesville; along with a Chosen Family, Chyanne (Dusty) Myers, Christopher (Kayla) Poff, Kaylee (Aaron) Wilson, Brent Poff, and Jake Barnes; a special daughter, Ashleigh Baxley of Brunswick; he was also a “Poppa” to Jake Rivera, Bella, Chloie and Maddison Apgar, Tyla, and Aurora Poff, and McKenzie, Av, and Saylor Wilson; as well as numerous friends, aunts and cousins who all loved him dearly.
A celebration of Clark’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 27, at Parkway Baptist Church, 101 McKinley Road, Waycross with Pastor Billy Worthington presiding.
