NAHUNTA — It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Otis Lavelle Bohanon, 77 of Nahunta, Sunday, June 7, 2026, at his residence after an extended illness.
Bohanon was born January 24, 1949 to the late Willie Lavelle Bohanon and Julia Bell Stokes. He was a lifelong resident o f Nahunta who loved his comm unity and friends.
His passions were proving he was right (lol), traveling and making memories with his family. Bohanon was devoted to God, family and his late wife of 50 years, Patsy Bohanon. He is also preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Moody and Donna Causey; and a grandchild, Kyle Perkins.
Survivors include his son Bo Bohanon (Cathy); two daughters, Shelley and Wendy Bohanon; a son-in-law, Tim Maki; his girlfriend, Anita Johns; his grandchildren, Shawn Perkins, Dustin Lyons, Shyanne and Nathan Fowler, Christian Wolfe, and Brittney, Bailey and Evan Bohanon; a brother, Gary “Teagle” Bohanon; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 10:00 am at Hickox Praise and Worship.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 11 a.m., at the church officiated by Rev. Otis Johns.
Burial will be a New Hope Cemetery immediately following the service.
Pallbearers include Bo Bohanon, Shawn Perkins, Tim Maki, Danny Jackson, J.J. Johns and David Combee.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
