Two errors occurred in last week’s school board coverage. Details about the 2027 budget approved at last week’s school board meeting were incorrect.
The school board approved the $44.7 million budget for 2027 which is about $352,000 higher than last year’s $44.3 million budget.
Year-to-date revenue figures were also incorrect in last week’s Board of Education highlights. The corrected amounts are included below: Reports: Finance Director Melanie Helms gave the system’s financial report. Total year-to-date revenue was at $41.34 million through April, while expenses were $38.98 million. The school system has a reserve of about $20.03 million. Helms reported the system’s sales tax revenue was $291,760 in April, up more than $22,000 from March. The board approved the financial report.
