‘Comeback Queens’ win District II championship
Pierce County’s 10-under girls’ all-stars captured the District II title winning their final six games after an opening loss. The team will play in the three-day Class C state tournament beginning Tuesday, June 25 in Sylvania and hosted by the Screven County Recreation Department. Pierce County scored 127 runs during their sixgame run to the district title beating host Jeff Davis 19-11 in the “if” game. The Lady Bears are scheduled to play District IV champion Meriwether County at 7 p.m. June 25. Pierce County will either play the winner of District I champion Glennville or District III runner-up Lanier County at 9 a.m., Wednesday, June 24 or the loser of the Glennville-Lanier County tilt at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
