AmVets Auxiliary Juneteenth is June 20 The Ladies Auxiliary of American Veterans Post 621 will hold a Juneteenth Jubilee Dance, 7 p.m. Saturday, June 20 at C.C. McCray City Auditorium, 865 Pendleton Street, Waycross.

Tickets are $35 per person and available from any Amvets auxiliary member. In addition to music and dancing there will be food and a cash bar. For information, call (912) 816-2170.

Family Connection to hold food distribution Pierce County Family Connection is proud to offer FREE diabetesfriendly food boxes for eligible seniors through the Senior Innovation Grant.

The event will be held from 9-11 a.m. June 23 next to the Pierce County Health Department.

Each box contains approximately $40 worth of healthy foods. Seniors must be 60 years or older and have diabetes or prediabetes to qualify.

There will be only 50 boxes available on a first come, first served basis.

SGRC Council to meet June 25

A meeting of the Southern Georgia Regional Commission (SGRC) Council is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2026. The meeting will be held at the SGRC Waycross Office located at 1725 S. Georgia Parkway W., in Waycross.

An Executive Committee Meeting will be held prior to the regular meeting at 10:00 am. Both meetings are open to the public.

PCHS School Council taking applications Pierce County High School (PCHS) is accepting applications for the 2026-2028 School Council.

The council meets four times per year. Those wishing to nominate someone or themselves to serve a 2-year term, please apply in person at the front desk during the week of June 22-25. PCHS accepts nominations/ applications from parents or business members.

If more than two candidates are nominated, there will be a vote Wednesday, July 8. Those who nominate or selfnominate, can contact the school July 7 to see if there is a need for a vote.

To vote, please go to the PCHS front desk to cast your ballot by noon July 8.

Memorial Satilla to hold blood drives Memorial Satilla Health will partner with The Blood Connection to host three more blood drives in 2026. Blood drives are held on Fridays, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the old registration lobby on the main campus, 1900 Tebeau Street, Waycross. Upcoming drives are set for July 31, October 2 and December 4. Vietnam Veterans meets monthly Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1070, meets the second Thursday of each month at Captain Joe’s Restaurant on Plant Avenue in Waycross. The meal begins at 3:30 p.m. and the meeting follows at 4 p.m. meetings. All Vietnam veterans their wives and the public are invited to attend. TOPS group meets weekly in Waycross Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) Group, a non-profit weight loss support group, meets weekly Thursday evenings at the First Presbyterian Church, 601 Hill Street, Waycross. Weigh in is 6-6:25 p.m, followed by the meeting at 6:30-7 p.m. One visit can be made without joining. Annual dues include a TOPS magazine every other month.
