Gloria Ward, 88, of Jesup, passed away Monday, June 8, 2026.
A native of Pierce County, she grew up on her family’s farm, raising cattle and cropping tobacco among other farm duties. She worked early in her adult life as a Southern Bell employee and then became a homemaker and later, caregiver for her husband, Billy. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and was a faithful member of Epworth United Methodist Church, where she and Billy were active in many ministries of the church. They enjoyed traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains, Blue Ridge Mountains, Callaway Garden and numerous bus tours with friends. She will be remembered for her sweet smile, uplifting spirit and giving nature that will live on through her family. She spent her final time in Albany so she could be close to her family. After 60 years of marriage, Billy F. Ward preceded her in death along with her parents, Hoke and Clara Aspinwall Thomas.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and David Lassiter, Albany and grandchildren, David Lassiter Jr. and Ward Lassiter, both of Albany.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday, June 12, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 12, from the Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Garth and Rebecca Duke-Barton officiating.
Interment will follow in the Offerman Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be her family.
