Times editor, dies at 76

Rose Sutton Aldridge, award winning journalist and former long-time News Editor of The Blackshear Times, passed away Saturday morning, June 6. She was 76.

Aldridge began her career at The Times in 1982 and covered countless government meetings and wrote hundreds of feature stories and personal columns during her tenure at the newspaper.

She left the newspaper in August, 2000, following 18 years of service.

Starting a new career as public relations coordinator and later as student information coordinator, she later retired from the Pierce County Schools with 13 years of service.

In addition to her love for writing and reading, Aldridge enjoyed antiquing. She was a long-time member of Grace Episcopal Church in Waycross.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, from the Grace Episcopal Church in Waycross.
