Patterson will be getting new rumble strips to go along with speed bumps on its city streets.
Mayor Dedi Thomas reported rumble strips will be installed on Echols Street near Bethlehem Church and the Patterson Cemetery to warn motorists to slow down as they enter the city limits and approach the curve near Williams Street.
A roll-over accident occurred there last month on the day of the city council meeting.
The rumble strips are just the latest in a series of road modifications aimed at slowing down motorists in the city limits.
Speed bumps are also set to be installed on Thomas Street near the Red Pepper Grill and on Peach Avenue.
The speed bumps on Thomas Street were removed when the street was resurfaced and have not been replaced. A resident asked for new speed bumps to be installed on Peach Avenue to help slow traffic there. Speed bumps have been a regular request to help alleviate speeding in Patterson in recent months. Speed bumps have already been placed on Tyre Bridge Road.
