The Ware County Board of Commissioners recognized Scott Callahan of the Vehicle Maintenance Department as Employee of the Month during the May 11 commission work session meeting, praising his professionalism, technical skill, and steady leadership.
Callahan, known throughout the department for his positive attitude and daily encouragement that “today is going to be a good day,” was nominated by Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Joe Meadows, who highlighted his reliability, calmness under pressure, and commitment to safety.
According to the nomination letter, Callahan participates actively in weekly safety meetings, continually seeks to expand his knowledge of county vehicles, and routinely receives compliments from field staff for his professionalism.
Meadows noted Callahan often goes beyond his assigned duties, offering help across departments, giving rides to co-workers, contributing ideas to improve operations, and assisting community members quietly and without seeking recognition.
“His honesty, trustworthiness, and teamwork are evident in everything he does,” Meadows wrote.
County officials commended Callahan for modeling the values of service, family and community the county strives to uphold. His technical expertise and willingness to help others, both during and after work hours, were cited as key reasons for his selection.
