WAYCROSS — Mrs. Barbara Ann Griffin Tucker, 81 of Waycross and formerly of Alma, died early Monday morning, June 1, 2026 at her daughter’s residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Tucker was born December 7, 1944 in Brantley County to the late Perry Eugene Griffin and Rosa Lee Crawford Griffin. She had made Alma her home for the majority of her life.
A dedicated and loving homemaker, Mrs. Tucker loved baking, especially her homemade biscuits, dressings and dirt cake. She loved word search puzzles and spending time peacefully watching birds and butterflies.
Mrs. Tucker was a member of Community Baptist Church and enjoyed each and every moment she was able to spend with her family.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her first husband, Thurman Duane Davis; her second husband, Warren Tucker; her siblings, Eldean Griffin, Lamar Griffin, Bobby Griffin, Linda Landrum, Norma Jean Griffin, Berniece Griffin, Janelle Simpson and Terry Griffin; her mother-in-law, Leila Tucker; her fatherin- law, Allen “Bud” Tucker; three brother-inlaws, Roger Lee, Jerry Miles and Royce Tucker and one sister-in-law, Faye Tucker.
Mrs. Tucker is survived by three children, Coy Davis and his wife, Kim, of MacClenny, Fla., Liz Sweat of Waycross, and Brenda Giles and her husband, Ricky, of Alma; her grandchildren, Leyla Davis and her husband Chris, Aaron Giles and his wife Savannah, Austin Giles, Ashley Giles, Trey Sweat, Nikki Sweat and Sean Wilson; her great grandchildren, Mona, Luke, Vivienne, Raylynn, Nate and Araina; a special great-great niece, Amiyah Strickland; two siblings, Debbie McCarter and her husband, Bobby, of York, S.C., and Ricky Griffin of Waycross; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Alice Miles of Alma, Gloria Lee of Alma, Liz and Robert Williams of Blackshear, Aline and Lester Rowland of Alma, Cecil and Rita Tucker of Alma, and Dilworth and Judy Tucker of Alabama; and numerous other relatives.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Mrs. Tucker will be held at a later date at New Lacy Church of God in Alma with the Bro. Ricky Giles officiating.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Hospice Satilla for the kind and compassionate care given to Mrs. Tucker in her final days.
