Ruby Lee “Peggy” Milton Kirkland, 88, of Blackshear, passed away suddenly Wednesday afternoon, June 3, 2026, at her residence.
Born July 28, 1937, in Blackshear, she was a daughter of the late Mitch Milton and Easter McCarthy Milton. She had made Blackshear her home her entire life. Before retirement, she had worked in the sewing factory in Blackshear for many years. She was a long-time member of Blackshear Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lewis Kirkland; a brother, William “Bill” Milton and a sister, Ernie Mae Milton Combs.
Survivors include two sisters, Ethel Mae Milton Combs, Augusta and Geneve “Vee” Milton Godwin, Atlanta; five nephews; three nieces and several great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, June 6, from the Blackshear City Cemetery with Pastor John Williams officiating.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.
