OHC reception honors local Swamp Art

The Okefenokee Heritage Center’s (OHC) recent May 24 reception featured the artists who participated in the highly successful Swamp Art Exhibit held in the main gallery during the month of May. Shown above (l-r) are some of the artists whose work was featured in the show. Front row: Pamela Jordan, Jorah Mitchell, Phyllis Perry, Raven Hyers, Bob Brown and Susan Newman. Back row: David Jordan, Allen Allnoch, Randy Nance, John Jordan, Clint Bowman, Scott Beahan of Blackshear and Jacob Hyers. Several artists’ work was also featured posthumously, including Roland Thurston’s “Heroes of the Swamp 2007” in honor of those who fought the 2007 Okefenokee swamp fire, and works by Thurza Law and Roy Moore. Additional selections from the Swamp Art show were also featured in Lykens Art Gallery, located in the main hall of Memorial Satilla Health.
