Pierce County’s Recreation Department is hosting the Boys’ 8-under Coach Pitch and Machine Pitch District II tournaments beginning Friday afternoon.
The 8U Coach Pitch three-team tournament will begin at 4 p.m. June 5 on Burgsteiner Field. Charlton County and Brantley County will play in the opener with the winner advancing to play host Pierce County at 5:45 p.m.
Action resumes at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, with the two losers facing off. The winner advances to the championship game to face the winner of Friday’s late game at 11:45 a.m. An “if” game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
Four games in the eight-team 8U Pitching Machine division are slated for Friday. McIntosh County faces Alma/Bacon County at 5:30 p.m., in Game 1 on Jowers Field. Clinch County and Appling County square off at the same time on Thompson Field in Game 2 The Game 1 and Game 2 losers meet at 10 a.m. Saturday morning on Jowers Field in Game 7. The winners of Game 1 and Game 2 follow at 11:30 a.m., on the same field in Game 5.
In the bottom half of the bracket, Long County and Jeff Davis meet at 7 p.m., in Game 3 on Jowers Field. Host Pierce County faces Telfair County at 7 p.m., on Thompson Field in Game 4.
The Game 3 and Game 4 losers play at 10 a.m., Saturday in Game 8 on Thompson Field. The Game 3 and Game 4 winners play at 11:30 a.m., on the same field in Game 6.
Loser’s bracket games will continue at 1 p.m., on both fields, with Game 5 loser facing the winner of Game 8 in Game 10 and Game 6 loser meeting the Game 7 winner in Game 9.
The winners of Game 9 and Game 10 play at 2:30 p.m. in Game 12, on Jowers Field. The winners’ bracket finale, Game 11, is set for 2:30 p.m. on Thompson Field.
The loser of Game 11 returns Monday, June 8 to face the loser’s bracket survivor Game 12 winner at 10 a.m., on Jowers Field.
The survivor will face the lone unbeaten team remaining at 11:30 a.m., on Jowers Field. An “if” game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
