Members of the Waycross- Ware County Chamber of Commerce met on Knight Avenue last week for a groundbreaking ceremony, though not for a new business.

Rather, Southeastern Credit Union will be moving its former location at 1701-A Boulevard Square on Memorial Boulevard, to 703 Knight Avenue.

Suzanna Woodall, Chamber President and Chief Executive Officer, addressed the attendees gathered Wednesday, May 27, saying, “we’re excited for Southeastern Credit Union’s new location. We’re excited to see this investment in our community. We’re excited to see where they go.”

Southeastern Credit Union’s President and CEO Jennifer Stasio also spoke about the office, which is expected to open in February.

“We’re so excited for this opportunity in Waycross,” she said. “I can’t thank the board of directors of Southeastern enough for having faith in me, and having faith in what we do here at Southeastern. We’re very proud to be part of this community, part of Ware and Pierce counties, and we’ve served this community to the level of service we’re able to do.

“Honestly, we couldn’t do that without our team, our vendors, without all of this corporate board, and everyone else.”

Southeastern’s former location off Memorial Boulevard will be the future home of an Aldi grocery store. The SCU space, along with that which held Surcheros, is already being renovated by Aldi.

Woodall reiterated the Chamber’s support for SCU, saying “although they’re not new to Waycross, we’re excited to see their continued investment in our business community, They’ve always been a big part of our community.”
