BLACKSHEAR — Mrs. Peggy Elizabeth West Duncan, age 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Harborview in Blackshear.
Born on August 30, 1940, in Waycross, Mrs. Duncan was the daughter of the late Paul West and Mary Strickland West. She dedicated many years of service to the medical field, first as a surgical technician and later as a doctor's assistant in Waycross, where she was known for her caring nature and hardworking spirit.
Mrs. Duncan had a deep love for the arts and found joy in creating beautiful things with her hands. She enjoyed weaving pine straw baskets, painting cypress knee Santas, and quilting. Mrs. Duncan especially treasured time spent with family and friends, loved her pets dearly, and enjoyed riding her four-wheeler to the Alabaha River.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Duncan also was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Harold Duncan; her son, Michael “Scooter” Duncan; and five siblings: sisters June Newman, Patricia Diamond, and Carolyn McDonald; and brothers Edward West and Harry West.
She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory, including her children, Susan Duncan McNally, Sarah Duncan Scarborough, Stephen Harold Duncan (Anne), and Pat McNally. Affectionately known as “Nana,” Mrs. Duncan also was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and greatgreat grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy to her life.
The immediate family will gather for a private remembrance service.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Duncan’s Harborview family in Blackshear for the compassion, love, and care they provided to “Mrs. Peggy.”
