Bennett Memorial grant awarded

Ware County High School graduate Jose Gomez was awarded the 21st annual Kenneth Jason Bennett Memorial Scholarship last month during the Ware County Future Farmers of America awards banquet. Gomez is the son of Jose and Maria Gomez, and an honor graduate in the WCHS Class of 2026. Gomez earned the grant for his outstanding dedication to the FFA, of which he’d been a member for four years. He said he plans to attend Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College to study Agriculture Education and Livestock Production. Bennett family members presenting the scholarship to Gomez were (left) brother Alan Bennett, father Dale Bennett and mother Carol Bennett. Kenneth Bennett was an honor graduate from WCHS and active in its FFA program. He died in October 2005 as the result of an auto accident on South Georgia Parkway near South Georgia State College where he was a student. That portion of the highway is named in Bennett’s honor.
