Ware County student Jackson Thrift has been named a recipient of a Georgia Foundation for Agriculture (GFA) Scholarship.
Thrift is one of six students statewide selected to receive a $1,500 GFA Technical College Scholarship for Agriculture.
Thrift, son of Lamar and Kelly Thrift, is dually enrolled at Ware County High and Coastal Pines Technical College, where he is in the welding curriculum.
The scholarships reco gnize deserving and outstanding students pursuing an agriculture or ag-related degree such as welding, diesel mechanics, or veterinary tech at an eligible technical college or college in the University System of Georgia, Berry College or Emmanuel University.
“Part of our mission with the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture is to see that the agricultural leaders of tomorrow get the education and training they need,” said GFA Board Chairman and Georgia Farm Bureau president Tom McCall. “These scholarships are an investment in the future of agriculture in Georgia, and we’re excited to see what these students can do.”
Application instructions for the 2026-27 grants will be on the GFA website this fall.
