SAVANNAH — North Oconee’s continued its stranglehold on the girls’ Class 4A golf scene winning a sixth consecutive title here at the two-day, state tournament held at Crosswinds Golf Club.
The Lady Titans posted a 16-shot victory in the 12-team finals played Monday, May 18 and Tuesday, May 19. North Oconee posted a 243-245-488 score using Day 2 to pull away from a 12shot advantage.
Ware County finished ninth in the field with a score of 291275-566. Finishing between North Oconee and the Lady Gators were Marist (257-247504), Starrs Mill (263251-514), Madison County (255-261-516), Cambridge (258-260518), Centennial (277272-549), Allatoona (273-278-551) and Cartersville (288-273561).
Trailing Ware County were Pace Academy (291-277568), Harris County (304-299-603) and Druid Hills (327-322649).
Ashlyn Taylor of Marist hung on to medalist honors in the field of 68 players following a four-underpar opening 68 with an 80 in Round 2 for a 148 total and one shot victory over Blessed Trinity’s Delaney McFadden (75-74-149).
The Lady Gators were led by Annslee Kate Grantham (92-84-176), who finished in a threeway tie for 16th with Central- Carroll’s Madelyn Wilborn (90-186-176) and Cartersville’s Anna Jo Culverhouse (90-86176).
Eevy Griffin (98-89187) tied for 32nd with Madison County’s Breanna Culberson (92-95187). Lillie Livingston (101-102-203) finished a solo 49th.
Kate Thomas (106-103209) tied for 53rd with Harris County’s Allison Clark (106-103-209). Lily Peters (110-129-239) finished 61st.
