HOBOKEN – Betty Patsy Keener Griffin, 87 of Hoboken, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026, at her residence after an extended illness.
Born in Pierce County to the late Jewel Mae Keener Yawn, Mrs. Griffin grew up in Pierce County and lived in Waycross before moving to Hoboken in 1963. She was a seamstress and owned Griffin Garments in Waycross for many years.
Mrs. Griffin was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she served in many roles, including teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and serving as the Church Secretary.
She was a member of the choir and especially enjoyed singing and writing songs. Mrs. Griffin traveled to area churches to perform with her husband and other musician friends. She also enjoyed quilting and was a fantastic

Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her mother, Jewel Mae Keener Yawn; her husband, Carl Donald Griffin; and a sister, Louise Music.
Survivors include two children, Cathye Betzel (John) of Blacksburg, Va., and Joshua Griffin (Mandy) of Nahunta; seven grandchildren, Victoria Boatwright (Greg), Andrew Betzel, Samantha Thornton (Noah), Madison Griffin (fiancé Hayden), Bryce Griffin, Fallon Hangsleben and Brett Griffin; one great grandchild, Kit Thornton; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held this morning (Wednesday, May 27, 2026) beginning at 11 a.m., at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m., at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Yawn officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
