Dola Laverne King Sims

Dola Laverne King Sims, 81, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday morning, May 23, 2026, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.
Born in Blackshear, GA on February 7, 1945, she lived in Pierce County all of her life. She was a 1963 graduate of Blackshear High School and retired from AT&T where she had worked as a telephone operator.
She enjoyed reading her Bible as well as watching faith-based tv shows and movies. She also enjoyed watching game shows and spending time with her family.
She was a daughter of the late William Hampton and Mary Alma Crosby King. She was also preceded in death by
her husband, Thomas “Tommy” William Sims; her sister, Martha Lee Raulerson; her brother, Buddy King; her in-laws, John Henry and Martha Hutto Sims and sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lou Dubberly, Betty and Perry Hesters, Edward Sims, James Raulerson and Michael Alderman and by a niece, Tonya King Williams.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Megan Sims, Blackshear; two sisters-in-law, Susan King and Shirley Cauthen, both of Blackshear; a brother-in-law, Jimmie Dubberly, Waycross; her grandson, Michael Sims and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, from the Rehobeth
Cemetery in Pierce County with the Rev. Mitch Hall officiating. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Rehobeth Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice Satilla Hospice House, 811 Beacon St., Waycross, GA
