Leave the crowd behind to be closer with Christ

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” — Matthew 7: 13, 14

Many people feel safe in a crowd and feel “the more the merrier.” They want to be with the majority.

They know they can get lost in a crowd, not knowing that the whole crowd could be lost. With the crowd they cut a broad impressive swath with their numbers.

With them being with the many or majority is better than being with the few or minority. The majority is right as far as they’re concerned and with their strength in numbers they’re sure to have their way.

They crowd each other as they press tightly through the streets and alleys. They don’t even dare think of leaving the crowd to join the few who oppose them and are going in the opposite direction and who reject herd mentality.

They’re a mob or a lawless crowd or a fickle throng insistent on having their way and will go their way to their own destruction. There’s a warning against joining the many who have an evil intent.

“Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment.”

— Exodus 23: 2

In other words, we’re not to riot because the courts did not rule in our favor. Many evil persons would have never carried out their evil plans if they hadn’t gotten a multitude to back them.

There are two groups of people today; the saved and the lost that are traveling down two separate ways. The lost are in the majority and are traveling down a superhighway to their destruction.

The saved are those who left the majority and are now in the minority and traveling a narrow path to Heaven.

People have been known to leave a crowd when they realized the crowd was wrong and headed for ruin. They left the crowd before it was too late.

People leave the lost crowd when they are awakened to the reality that it is headed for Hell and join the few, the minority, the church through faith in Jesus Christ.
